New Car Wash and future problems

Postby Bryanp on Mon Jul 10, 2006 11:05 am

Here is a topic i am currious to hear some feedback from the IPD on. Recently plans to build a new carwash at the corner of 23rd and Blue Ridge Terrace were given the go ahead. A house was moved to make way for this and that can only mean that the CW should be under contruction soon. Does anyone else find this to be one of the poorest spots for such a thing? The traffic going east bound on 23rd will be coming out of a 55mph zone and surely entering and exiting a CW at that spot could only be catagorized as extremely hazardous. Not too mention the traffic headed west bound will be entering the same zone which could make for a doubly dangerous situation. Does anyone on the IPD fell the same concern? How does the IDP expect to control the crime that will no doubt relocate to this new site? With it being right on the border of the city, i can only imagine the problems that will arrise at this location and this greatly concerns me since my parents will be within 500 feet of this facility. Are my concerns seemingly unfounded?
blah blah blah, shut up and ride.

That is right on the edge of town. Is that KC or Indep?

It is Indep, by about 500 feet. hence my concern. With it being right on the edge of the city limits, i fear that it will not get the neccessary patrols to curb the more than inevitable crime that will conjure there. Not too mention the traffic hazard of having the entrance right on 23rd at the end of a 55MPH zone.
blah blah blah, shut up and ride.

I happen to be a resident of that street where the car wash is going to be. Several of the neighbors here tried to stop the whole project and we actually won! The planning commission agreed that it was in a horrible location.
We then found out later that we had to go to the city council in front of Ron Stewart. It was then approved. I hear that the LeVota's are good friends with our former mayor.
We are all still very upset about this. The LeVota's assured us that they would keep police officers sitting at that car wash and give the officers and residents free car washes.
I wonder if that will really happen.

So does that mean they plan on funding the department enough to keep one sole officer in the area? Or are they gonig to hire a private security firm to fill it?

Also....if there's no attendant, how do you get a free wash? Unless they are putting in an automatic wash and give the residents some sort of coupon or card..
