Independence Officer Released From Hospital

Independence Police say the officer who was shot last night after responding to call at 8th & Carlisle has been released from the hospital. Officers responded to an address where a man was in his backyard shooting at another house. The suspect and officers exchanged gunfire. The officer released today had been shot in the head. The suspect was transported to a hospital where he died. The Missouri Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident.
