One person was killed today in a crash on 40 Highway. Independence Police say a gray Dodge Ram was eastbound on US 40 approaching Fairview road when it struck a Lincoln that was traveling northbound across the eastbound lanes. The driver of the Ram sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Lincoln was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The deceased driver was a 77-year-old resident of Napoleon, Mo. Her identity has not been released pending notification of family. There were no additional passengers in either vehicle. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
