IPD Investigating Homicide

Independence police are investigating a homicide in the 9900 block of 36th Street South. Police say they responded to the residence around 6:00 PM last night in reference to a possible homicide that occurred the day prior. Upon their arrival, they located a deceased adult female inside and apartment who appeared to have died as the result of gunshot wounds. The victim is identified as Oriana Raisa N-Chelle Ashhanti Starr, a 22 year old black female from Independence, MO.

Detectives say they are looking for a person of interest, Brandon A. McDaniel, a 26 year old Hispanic male who is believed to be homeless. Brandon is 6’0”, 170 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes and facial hair. He frequently walks or uses public transit and is considered armed and dangerous.
