Independence Police are investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred at around 3:43 PM today on US 40 Hwy near Denton. A gold Porsche was traveling eastbound on US 40 Hwy at a high rate of speed when it drove into oncoming lanes to pass slower traffic. A silver Toyota was westbound in the right lane.The Porsche struck the Toyota in a head-on collision near US 40 Hwy and Denton. The driver and passenger of the Porsche were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver later died. He was 31 years old and a resident of Kansas City, Missouri. The driver and passenger of the Toyota were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The passenger of the Toyota died as a result of her injuries. She was 41 years old and a resident of Kansas City, Missouri. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
