Higginsville Man Faces Two Counts of 1st Degree Murder in Independence Shootings

A Higginsville man has been charged in the double shooting that happened in Independence on May 23rd. According to the Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker, Steven B. Turner Jr. faces two counts of Murder 1st Degree and two counts of Armed Criminal Action. According to court records, Turner admitted to Independence police detectives that he knowingly shot into a Jeep Renegade SUV parked behind a residence in Independence, shooting until his gun was empty. He killed both victims who have now been identified as Billy M. Davis and Ashley D. Walker.
