The Independence Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred at approximately 8:15 pm at US 24 Hwy and Farview. The operator of a 2009 Honda motorcycle was traveling westbound on US 24 Highway and collided with a 2006 Nissan pickup making a left turn from US 24 Highway onto Farview. The operator of the motorcycle was transported to Centerpoint Hospital, but succumbed to injuries. The Nissan pickup had two occupants. No injuries were reported by the either occupant in the Nissan. Police say the motorcycle operator has been identified, but the identity is not being released at this time pending notification to the family and the crash remains under investigation.
