A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Independence that occurred at approximately 6:30 pm this evening. The collision occurred on US 24 Highway at Arrowhead Ridge. The operator of a 2007 Yamaha sports bike was traveling eastbound on US 24 Highway and collided with a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder making a left turn from US 24 Highway onto Arrowhead Ridge. Motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. There were two occupants in the Nissan Pathfinder, the driver reported no injuries and the passenger was transported to Centerpoint with minor injuries. According to witnesses of the collision, excessive speed by the motorcycle may be a contributing factor. The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released pending notification of the family.
