An Independence police Selective Enforcement Unit officer was injured today while riding his department motorcycle when he was involved in a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Lee’s Summit Road and Truman Road. The officer drove over a slick substance in the roadway, lost control and laid the bike down. As a result, he suffered a broken bone but is expected to be okay.
